How do we know that judging is allowed in some contexts in the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Judging is permitted when it comes to discerning truth from falsehood and is essential for guidance in the faith.

While Matthew 7:1 cautions against judging with a critical spirit, Scripture acknowledges the need for discernment. In Matthew 7:6 and verse 15, Jesus instructs believers to be discerning about who to share the Gospel with and warns against false prophets. In John 7:24, He states, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment," indicating the necessity of discerning right doctrine from error. This discernment is critical for the health of the Church and the purity of the Gospel, emphasizing that not all judgment is wrong but must be done with a righteous heart.
