How do we know that our assurance of salvation is true?

Answered in 1 source

Our assurance is true because it relies on God's promises and the completed work of Christ.

Assurance of salvation is anchored in the character and promises of God. As stated in Romans 8, nothing can separate believers from the love of God in Christ Jesus. The resurrection of Jesus serves as a pivotal assurance of our faith, as it confirms that God's justice is satisfied and that believers are accepted because of Christ's righteousness. Moreover, the scripture teaches that if salvation were dependent on our actions, we could never have true assurance (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is God's election and the work of the Holy Spirit that assures us of our standing before Him. True assurance comes from understanding that salvation is entirely God's doing.
