How do we know that salvation is free?

Answered in 3 sources

Salvation is free because humanity is spiritually bankrupt and has nothing to offer for redemption.

The concept of free salvation is rooted in the understanding of human depravity and our inability to pay for our sins. Luke 7 illustrates this with the parable of two debtors, emphasizing that both owed a debt they could not pay. As Romans 6:23 states, 'the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' This emphasizes that salvation is a gracious gift given to those who recognize their need and have nothing of their own to contribute.
