How do we know that salvation is not available to everyone?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture makes it clear that salvation is reserved for the elect, as shown in Romans 9:30-33 and Matthew 7:14 where few find the strait gate.

The New Testament clearly delineates the recipients of God's grace. As stated in Romans 9:30-33, Israel pursued righteousness but did not attain it because they sought it not by faith. This indicates that salvation is not indiscriminately offered to everyone but rather to those whom God has chosen. Jesus’ teachings further assert that many will seek salvation but only few will find it, signaling that not all who seek will attain what they look for, as evidenced in Matthew 7:14. The doctrine of election conveys that God’s sovereign grace is the sole basis of salvation, which He bestows upon those He has chosen, as per His purpose and will.
