How do we know the contemporary gospel reflects the biblical gospel?

Answered in 1 source

We discern the contemporary gospel's faithfulness to Scripture by comparing it against the inflexible standard of God’s revelation.

To determine if the contemporary gospel aligns with the biblical gospel, it must be evaluated against the authority of Scripture. Preacher Albert N. Martin emphasizes that we cannot rely on popular opinion or contemporary trends to gauge the truth of the gospel. Instead, we must adhere to the inflexible standard of God’s Word as our ultimate guide. This truth is echoed in Isaiah 8:20: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. The biblical gospel includes core doctrines such as the nature of God, the seriousness of sin, the necessity of repentance, and the full scope of God's redemptive plan through Christ's death and resurrection. When these elements are disregarded or minimized, we must question the authenticity of the gospel being presented. The faithful representation of the gospel requires a commitment to the whole counsel of God, reflecting all aspects of His truth.
