How do we know the love of God in difficult times?

Answered in 1 source

God's love is understood through Scripture, not merely by our circumstances.

Many believers fall into the pitfall of interpreting God's love based on their circumstances. When life is favorable, they may feel assured of God's love, but when trials come, they may doubt it. However, the heart of God is revealed in Scripture, specifically in terms of our spiritual, ethical, and moral relationships with Him. As Psalm 146:8 states, 'God loves the righteous,' demonstrating that His love is tied to His promises and character rather than fluctuating circumstances. Furthermore, God's loving discipline is evident in texts like Revelation 3:19 and Hebrews 12, where we learn that afflictions can be expressions of His love, aimed at producing holiness in His children.
