How do we know the superiority of Christ's priesthood?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's priesthood is superior because it is established by His eternal nature rather than by lineage.

The superiority of Christ's priesthood over the Levitical system is presented in Hebrews 7 where it is asserted that Melchizedek, who prefigures Christ, holds a higher rank. Unlike the Levitical priests who had to repeatedly offer sacrifices, Christ offered Himself once for all, successfully atoning for sin. His eternal priesthood is described as being after the order of Melchizedek, indicating that it is unending and perfect. This means believers have a High Priest who does not need to repeat sacrifices, hence providing eternal security and assurance of salvation.
