How do we know we are one of the elect?

Answered in 4 sources

We can know we are elected by examining our response to the gospel and our desire for Christ's righteousness.

Determining one's election involves looking at the evidence of God's calling in our lives. As the sermon highlights, if you desire the righteousness of Christ and yearn for His salvation, this indicates the calling of God at work in you. Romans 8:28 assures us that all things work together for good to those who love God and are the called according to His purpose. This love for God and the things of God is a reflection of His election.

Furthermore, engaging actively with the gospel, as prescribed in 1 Thessalonians 1:4-5, where Paul identifies the election of the Thessalonians based on their reception of the gospel, indicates our standing. Therefore, our diligence in prayer, seeking the Lord’s voice, and gathering with His people contribute to our assurance of election. Ultimately, the personal conviction of the Holy Spirit that we are indeed chosen by God is a profound confirmation of our place in His covenant.
