How do we know we have the love of God?

Answered in 2 sources

We know we have the love of God when we love one another, which is evidence of God's presence in us.

In 1 John 4, it is articulated that love originates from God, and those who are born of God exhibit this love. The evidence of possessing God's love is manifested in our love for others, particularly our fellow believers. This love is not conditional or based on reciprocation but reflects God's unconditional love for us, as seen in the sacrifice of Christ. Therefore, the presence of love in our hearts is a testament to our regeneration and union with Christ.
