How do we understand redemption in the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Redemption in the Bible refers to being rescued from destruction, primarily through the sacrificial work of Jesus.

In biblical context, redemption means being saved or released from something that endangers or enslaves. The ultimate redemption comes from Jesus, who, through His death and resurrection, guarantees salvation from the eternal destruction that sin deserves. As noted in scripture, He became the destruction of our destruction, conquering sin and death. This redemption shifts believers from spiritual death to spiritual life, assuring them that they will not face condemnation. As such, redemption is both a present reality and a future hope for all who trust in Him.
