How does seeing ourselves as sinners help in knowing Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Recognizing ourselves as sinners is crucial to understanding our need for Christ's redemptive work (Romans 3:23).

Seeing ourselves as sinners is a fundamental aspect of knowing Christ. When He is revealed, we will understand our true nature and the gravity of our sin. This self-awareness not only humbles us but also drives us to seek mercy and forgiveness. As David expresses in Psalm 51, the cry for mercy comes from an understanding of our wretched state. Without this recognition, one may assume they need no saving, which distorts the gospel of grace. True revelation of Christ leads us to the point where we see that we need Him to cleanse us and redeem us from our sinfulness.
