How does sin affect our ability to draw near to God?
Answered in 1 source
Sin creates a barrier that makes it difficult for us to approach God, but through Christ, we can overcome this barrier.
Sin profoundly affects our relationship with God by creating a chasm that hinders our ability to draw near to Him. As noted in the sermon, God's holiness necessitates a recognition of our sinfulness. When we attempt to approach Him without acknowledging our condition, we risk being like the Pharisee who presumptuously claimed righteousness (Luke 18:9-14). Instead, we are called to humility, recognizing that it is only through Christ's atoning sacrifice that we are made acceptable to God. Hebrews 10:19-22 encourages us to draw near with confidence, assured that Christ's blood has cleansed us and allows us to approach the throne of grace boldly.
