How does the doctrine of election relate to striving for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The doctrine of election assures us that God has chosen His people, thus motivating our striving towards Him.

The doctrine of election teaches that God has chosen certain individuals for salvation before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). This truth does not negate our responsibility to strive; rather, it empowers our efforts as we are assured of God's sovereign choice. In Luke 13:24, He prompts us to strive to enter the straight gate. Our striving is not in vain, for it is rooted in the assurance that God has provided a means of grace through Christ, who laid down His life for His sheep (John 10:15). Understanding election provides a profound motivation for genuine faith and active engagement in the pursuit of Christ.
