What does it mean that God is our refuge and strength?

Answered in 1 source

God being our refuge means He is our shelter in times of trouble, providing strength amid our weaknesses.

When we say that God is our refuge and strength, we acknowledge that He is our source of safety and help during life’s adversities. The image of refuge suggests that in our moments of defeat or distress, we can withdraw into His presence and find comfort, protection, and solace. In contrast, claiming Him as our strength means that our victories and ability to endure come from Him alone. In recognizing our limitations, we turn to Him to fight our battles and grant us the strength we lack. This dual role of God not only affirms our dependency on Him but also reassures us that as we seek shelter, we find empowerment, enabling us to face life's storms without fear.
