What does it mean to be a needy person in the spiritual sense?

Answered in 1 source

To be spiritually needy means recognizing our utter dependence on Christ for salvation and righteousness (Exodus 15:23-25).

Being spiritually needy is a state of acknowledgment that, without Christ, we are lost in our sin. The Israelites' thirst in the wilderness symbolizes the deep spiritual need we all have for God's provision. They experienced physical thirst, but it is a picture of our spiritual thirst for righteousness and redemption. Recognizing our neediness is a blessing, as it leads us to seek Christ, the only one who can meet our deepest needs. The gospel precisely addresses this need by offering Christ as the living water that quenches our thirst for acceptance and righteousness before God.
