What does the Bible say about faith and trials?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that faith must be tried to be proven true, as demonstrated in Hebrews 11 and the story of Abraham.

In Hebrews 11, we read about the faith of Abraham, who was tested by God when asked to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. This testing of faith is essential, as true faith must endure trials to show that it is genuine. The challenges we face can strengthen our faith, reminding us that believing in God's promises, even in the face of uncertainty, will ultimately lead to praise and glory for Him.

This idea is echoed in 1 Peter, where it states that faith, though tried by fire, will be found to result in praise and honor at the revelation of Christ. Believers are called not only to have faith but to exercise it under the trials of life, demonstrating that our reliance is not in ourselves but in the grace provided by God.
