What does the Bible say about hope in times of depression?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible encourages us to hope in God even in times of depression, as seen in Psalm 42:11.

Psalm 42:11 reminds us that even in our lowest moments, we should place our hope in God. David, the psalmist, articulates the struggle of his soul in feeling cast down and disquieted. Yet, he calls himself to hope in God because he believes that he will eventually praise Him once again. This teaches us that hope is not contingent upon our feelings but is rooted in the steadfastness of God’s promises. No matter how deep our despair, we can hold on to the assurance that God will uplift us in His perfect timing.
