What does the Bible say about Jesus as our holiness?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is our holiness and sanctification, and we are made holy in Him.

In Hebrews 2:11, we see that Jesus, who sanctifies, and those being sanctified are one. This truth indicates that our holiness is not based on our actions but derived entirely from our union with Christ. As believers, we share in Christ's righteousness; His holiness is credited to us, thus enabling us to live sanctified lives. This eliminates any notion that we must maintain our holiness through works, as it is rooted solely in Christ's redemptive work. Therefore, our desire to live righteously comes from our relationship with Him and a desire to reflect His character.
