What does the Bible say about keeping ourselves in the love of God?

In Jude 21, we are instructed to 'keep yourselves in the love of God.' This implies an active engagement with our spiritual lives, requiring both diligence and reliance on God's grace. The love of God can be understood in two ways: the love He extends to us, and the love we ought to express back to Him. This love is critical for our spiritual health and must be deliberately nurtured, as neglect can lead to a decay of faith, love, and obedience. By persevering in love, we also prepare ourselves for the mercy that Christ will reveal at His coming, which is a testament to living in hope and expectation of eternal life.
