What does the Bible say about looking unto Jesus for salvation?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible commands us in Isaiah 45:22 to look unto the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved, as He is the only way to deliverance from sin.

Isaiah 45:22 explicitly states, 'Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.' This command is foundational in understanding salvation from a sovereign grace perspective. It emphasizes that salvation is not a result of human effort or will but is entirely initiated by God. To 'look' means to regard, trust, and turn to Jesus as the only hope of salvation. However, due to our fallen nature, we cannot look to Him unless the Spirit of God enables us to see our need for Him. The act of looking to Christ is an acknowledgment of our helplessness and the realization that only He can save us from our sins.
