What does the Bible say about mourning and grief?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that it is natural to mourn, but Christians should do so without murmuring.

The Scriptures acknowledge mourning as a human experience, as exemplified in Job 1:21, where Job affirms the sovereignty of God in giving and taking away. Mourning is a natural response to loss, seen in the compassion of Jesus who wept (John 11:35). However, Christians are called to navigate their sorrow in a manner that reflects trust and submission to God's will. We must grieve quietly and reverently, acknowledging God's prerogative in our lives, and with a heart that remains grateful.
