What does the Bible say about not fearing God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible encourages believers to fear not because God has removed the reasons for fear through Christ.

In Revelation 1:17-18, Christ tells John, 'Fear not; I am the first and the last. I am he that liveth and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.' This assurance speaks to the core of our faith—Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death, thus eliminating our greatest fears. To fear God is to recognize our sinfulness and need for His mercy. However, because He forgives and justifies those who believe, we need not be afraid of condemnation. Instead, our reverential fear leads us to trust in His love and grace.
