What does the Bible say about Satan's power and influence?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible describes Satan as having real but limited power in the world, ultimately under Christ's authority (Revelation 12:4-8).

In Revelation 12, Satan is depicted as a great red dragon, representing his authority and influence over the governments of this world. This power, though very real and destructive, is on loan from God, meaning that he operates within the bounds of divine sovereignty (Revelation 12:4). While he seeks to harm God's people and to disrupt God's plan of redemption, he is ultimately under the dominion of Christ. Satan's power is further highlighted by how he was cast out of heaven and continues to accuse the brethren, yet he cannot succeed against the Lord's elect (Revelation 12:10).
