What does the Bible say about the advantage of hearing the gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Hearing the gospel is vital because faith comes by hearing God's Word, which reveals His nature and our need for salvation.

The Bible emphasizes that there is a significant advantage to hearing the gospel as it is through this hearing that we come to know who God is and understand our sinful condition. Romans 10:17 states, 'So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.' This means that without the preached Word of God, individuals cannot attain the faith necessary for salvation. In Romans 3:2, it is highlighted that the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God, giving them knowledge of His holiness, justice, and wrath against sin, advantages not afforded to the Gentiles who had only the light of nature. Today, we have even more advantage in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, which reveals God’s grace in saving sinners through Christ’s sacrificial work. This gospel shows us not only who God is but also how He makes us righteous and holy.
