What does the Bible say about the importance of believing the prophets?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that we must believe all that the prophets have spoken, as it forms the foundation for our understanding of Christ and His work.

In Luke 24:25-27, Jesus rebukes His disciples for their lack of belief in all that the prophets have spoken about Him. This includes the entire Old Testament which prophetically points to the coming Messiah. Believing the scriptures is essential for understanding God’s redemptive plan, as they reveal the necessity of Christ's suffering and subsequent glory. When we study the prophets, we can see how their words were fulfilled in Jesus, which strengthens our faith and assures us of God’s promises.
