What does the Bible say about the ordinances of God?

Answered in 1 source

The ordinances of God serve as means of grace, guiding believers to spiritual refreshment and deeper communion with Him.

The ordinances of God, such as the Sabbath and sacraments, are designed to strengthen our faith and allow us to draw closer to Him. Isaiah 12:3 illustrates this through the metaphor of drawing water from the wells of salvation, emphasizing that these practices are vital for spiritual nourishment. They are not just rituals; they are divinely appointed means through which God dispenses grace to His people.

However, it is crucial to understand that these ordinances are not meritorious in themselves. They are intended to lead us to God, who is the ultimate source of our joy and strength. As stated in Psalm 4:8, even in times of deprivation, we can find safety and peace in God Himself, reaffirming that while the ordinances are important, our focus must remain on the God of the ordinances.
