What does the Bible say about the sacrifices in the Old Testament?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible states that the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins, serving only as a reminder of sin and the need for a true sacrifice.

Hebrews 10:4-5 explains that it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. The sacrificial system established in the Old Testament was meant to be a foreshadowing of a greater sacrifice to come. These animal sacrifices could temporarily cleanse a person ceremonially but could never address the heart's sin condition. This ongoing process served to remind the people of their sinful nature and the necessity for a perfect offering, which was fulfilled in Christ's ultimate sacrifice.
