What does the Bible say about the unworthiness of sinners?
Answered in 1 source
The Bible emphasizes that God does not require worthiness for sinners to come to Christ; rather, it is through faith that we find acceptance.
The Scriptures clearly illustrate that God has not required any worthiness from the creature before believing in Christ. For instance, throughout the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, there is no mention of conditions of worthiness needed prior to coming to Jesus for salvation. This fact should encourage sinners to understand that their unworthiness does not prevent them from embracing Christ’s mercy. As seen in the examples of Matthew, Zacchaeus, and Mary Magdalene, all of whom were unworthy, they received mercy because they believed. Thus, walking away from Christ due to feelings of unworthiness only serves to perpetuate separation from the very grace we desperately need.
