What does the Bible say about thieves and liars?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, including being thieves and liars by nature.

In Zechariah 5, we see a prophecy that reveals the nature of sin, where God’s judgment against thieves and liars is symbolized by a flying scroll. This scroll represents the law which condemns all who fall short. Every natural-born person is guilty of lies, both against God and in their own lives, and without divine intervention, we remain condemned. The doctrine revealed in this prophecy emphasizes the severity of God's law and the universal nature of sin, defining all of humanity as thieves of God's glory and liars by the flesh, a position confirmed in Romans 3:23.
