What does the Bible say about works being tested by fire?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible clearly teaches that all works will be tested by fire, and only those done by Christ will endure.

In 1 Corinthians 3, the Apostle Paul explains that at the end of time, every person's works will be revealed by fire. Those things not rooted in Christ—described as 'wood, hay, and stubble'—will be burned away, while works that glorify God will survive the testing. This emphasizes the importance of our efforts reflecting Christ's work in us, rather than relying on our flesh. Only that which is accomplished 'by Christ' will last into eternity, serving to highlight His glory and redemption.
