Who should participate in the Lord's Table?

Answered in 1 source

Only believers in Christ who recognize Him as their Savior should participate in the Lord's Table.

Participation in the Lord's Table is reserved for those who have faith in Christ and acknowledge His work of salvation. The disciples present at the Last Supper represent those who truly knew and believed in Him despite their imperfections. As Paul encourages in 1 Corinthians 11:28, self-examination is essential before partaking, which means assessing one’s faith and love for Christ rather than their personal perfection. If someone can affirm their belief in Christ's saving grace, they are deemed fit to come to the table, as it is essentially a meal for sinners redeemed by grace, not for the righteous. Understanding that qualification comes from being made fit by God through Christ is central to this practice.
