Why do Christians believe in eternal security?

Answered in 2 sources

Christians believe in eternal security because, once secured by Christ, nothing can separate them from God's love.

Eternal security, often summarized by the phrase 'once saved, always saved,' is foundational to Reformed theology as articulated in Philippians 3. Paul asserts that because believers are apprehended by Christ, they are held securely in His grip. This idea is echoed in John 10, where Jesus declares that no one can snatch His sheep from His hand. The believer's salvation is thus assured, not based on their fluctuating faithfulness, but on the steadfast and unchanging nature of Christ's work and Christ’s abilities to keep them until the end.
