Why is Christ central to the worship of God?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is central to worship because He is the fulfillment of all Old Testament types and the only mediator between God and man.

Christ's centrality in worship stems from His role as the fulfillment of every type and shadow presented in the Old Testament. The Ark of the Covenant, for instance, represents Christ, as it contained the Law, Aaron’s budded rod, and manna—symbols of God’s provision. In Him, the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily. This means that all elements of worship in the Old Testament, including sacrifices and rituals, ultimately pointed to Him. Without recognizing Christ's completed work and His role as the mercy seat, worship becomes merely ritualistic and devoid of true power, as the gospel can only be effective when centered on Christ’s atoning blood.
