Why is Christ referred to as a sympathetic priest?

Christ's sympathetic priesthood stems from His incarnation, where He took on human nature and experienced our trials and temptations. Hebrews 4:15 states that we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses but one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are. This deep empathy allows Him to intercede for us effectively, knowing our pain and providing the comfort we need.
