Why is hearing the words of the Lord important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

Hearing God's word is crucial because it reveals truth, provides spiritual nourishment, and fosters a relationship with Christ.

For Christians, hearing the words of the Lord is vital for several reasons. First, God's word is the source of light that dispels darkness in our hearts, as Psalm 119:130 suggests. It is through His word that we come to understand our identity in Christ and the full scope of His redemptive plan. Additionally, Jesus Himself is described as the Word (John 1:1), indicating that our relationship with Him is intimately tied to the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit uses the word to convict us of sin, guide us in our lives, and produce spiritual growth within us. Without the active engagement and hearing of God's word, believers risk spiritual stagnation and disconnection from the truths that sustain their faith.
