Why is it important for Christians to focus on their souls?

As Stephen Hyde emphasized in his sermon, our focus should not be on temporal matters but on the condition of our souls, which is eternal (1 Corinthians 7:29-31). The reality of eternal life or eternal separation from God should motivate believers to give due diligence to their spiritual state. This includes recognizing that, due to our sinful nature, we naturally lean towards the things of this world. Therefore, it is imperative that Christians are spiritually vigilant, continually seeking God’s will, and nurturing their faith through the truth of Scripture. Ultimately, neglecting our souls can lead to spiritual complacency and distract us from the eternal hope we have in Christ.
