Why is it important for Christians to perform good works?

For Christians, performing good works is vital because it demonstrates the transformative power of faith in their lives. Good works are not a means to salvation but rather the fruit that results from being saved by grace. As stated in Ephesians 2:8-10, we are saved by grace through faith, and the expected result of that salvation is a life characterized by good works. These works not only reflect our love for Christ but also serve to glorify God. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus encourages His followers to let their light shine before others through good works, so that others may see and glorify the Father in heaven.
