Why is it important for Christians to perform good works?

While good works do not contribute to our salvation, they are an essential aspect of the believer's life. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:10, we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand. These works are evidence of our faith and reflect our new identity in Christ. They serve as a testimony to unbelievers, glorifying God and revealing the love of Christ to the world. Moreover, good works can provide mutual encouragement and support within the community of believers, helping to bear one another's burdens as outlined in Galatians 6:2. Therefore, while our focus remains on Christ, performing good works demonstrates our gratitude for salvation and our commitment to living in accordance with God's will.
