Why is it important for Christians to turn their eyes to Jesus?

Answered in 1 source

Turning our eyes to Jesus allows us to receive light and hope amidst our troubles.

As highlighted in Psalm 13, David's plea to consider and hear him reflects a desperate need for divine attention and light. When we take counsel within ourselves, we fall into despair and darkness. However, looking to Christ, the light of the world, brings clarity and peace. In Ephesians, Paul prays that the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened so that we may grasp the hope of our calling. By fixing our eyes on Jesus, we acknowledge His sovereign power and provision, thus alleviating the burdens that overwhelm us and leading us to true joy and assurance in our salvation.
