Why is it important for Christians to understand their position before the judge?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding our position before the judge helps us recognize our dependence on Christ for salvation.

For Christians, grasping our position before the divine judge is essential as it humbles us and clarifies our dependence on Christ. The narrative of Pilate judging Jesus illustrates our natural inclination to position ourselves as judges over Christ rather than recognizing Him as the ultimate judge over us. By nature, humanity is condemned already (John 3:18) and stands guilty before God. This realization leads believers to seek mercy from Christ, the judge, who has the power to save or to condemn. Acknowledging our helplessness and the complete sovereignty of Christ is critical for true faith. It shows that our justification is not based on our works, but solely on Christ’s righteousness imputed to us. Thus, Christians are to continually plead for mercy, acknowledging it is through Christ alone that redemption is received.
