Why is it important that Jesus is the ultimate deliverer unlike Samson?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus completed the work of redemption perfectly, whereas Samson began the deliverance of Israel but did not finish it.

Samson's role as a deliverer was critical, yet it was only a beginning, as the text indicates he 'shall begin to deliver Israel.' In contrast, Jesus is the ultimate deliverer who came to finish the work of redemption. His sacrifice on the cross and resurrection secured salvation for His people entirely and permanently. Unlike Samson, who fought alone against physical enemies, Christ defeated spiritual foes, ensuring that through His death, believers would not only be delivered from sin but also granted eternal life and righteousness. This aspect of Jesus' ministry emphasizes the completeness of the Gospel, which is central to Reformed theology.
