Why is it important to have righteousness to stand before God?

Standing before God requires a covering of righteousness because God is of purer eyes than to behold evil (Habakkuk 1:13). This righteousness cannot be attained through human effort; it must be received as a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ. Just as Joseph had to change from his prison clothes to present himself before Pharaoh, we must be made clean and holy to enter into God's presence. Jesus, through His sacrificial death, provides that perfect righteousness, ensuring believers are fit for communion with a holy God. This necessity emphasizes the centrality of faith and grace in the Christian life.
