Why is love important for maintaining unity among believers?

Answered in 1 source

Love is the bond that holds believers together, enabling them to forbear and support one another.

In Ephesians 4:2, Paul emphasizes the necessity of love when he instructs believers to forbear one another in love. Love acts as the primary adhesive that binds members of the body of Christ together. It allows for humility, patience, and the desire to seek reconciliation rather than division. When disagreements arise, recalling our shared faith and common hope in Christ compels us to prioritize unity over our individual grievances. Additionally, 1 John 4:8 states that God is love, asserting that true believers, who are indwelled by the Holy Spirit, should exemplify that love toward one another in all aspects of life.
