Why is obedience to Christ's commandments important?

Answered in 2 sources

Obedience to Christ's commandments is important as it proves our love for Him and assures us of our faith.

Obedience to Christ's commandments is central to the believer's life as it is the tangible evidence of one's faith and relationship with Him. In 1 John 2:4, John states that a person who claims to know Christ but does not keep His commandments is a liar. It’s through obedience that believers express their love for Christ and confirm their identity as His disciples. Moreover, obedience is an outflow of the believer's transformed heart, instilled by the Holy Spirit, affirming their assurance of salvation and fostering their growth in grace as they walk in faith and love.
