Why is repentance important in the life of a believer?

Answered in 3 sources

Repentance is vital as it recognizes our need for Christ's righteousness, highlighting the grace of God in our lives.

Repentance is crucial because it is the acknowledgment of our sinfulness and our inability to attain righteousness through our own efforts. Just as Paul in Philippians 3:8 stated that he counts everything as loss compared to knowing Christ, believers must similarly view their works without Christ as worthless. This perspective leads to true justification, as it involves recognizing that Christ's sacrifice is the only means by which we can be cleansed and accepted by God. Therefore, repentance not only brings us to a deeper appreciation of God's grace but also propels us toward true growth in holiness.
