Why is the ministry of the Word important for Christians?

Answered in 7 sources

The ministry of the Word is essential for salvation and edification, as God has chosen to save His elect through the preaching of the gospel (Romans 1:16-17).

Paul emphasizes in Romans that faith comes through hearing the Word of God, which positions the ministry of the Word at the heart of Christian life and mission. Preachers, referred to as God's angels in the context of local churches (Revelation 1:20, 2:3), are tasked with delivering the message of the gospel. Their role is to serve both the salvation of God's elect and the edification of the church (Ephesians 4:11-16). Therefore, the value and importance of faithful gospel preaching cannot be understated, as it is the means by which God imparts His grace to His people.
