Why is understanding God's character through the cross important for Christians?

The cross not only serves as the focal point of salvation but also as the clearest revelation of God's character. In Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, we see God's holiness demonstrated through His unwillingness to overlook sin, as well as His justice in punishing sin through Christ.
