Why is understanding Jesus as life important for Christians?

In John 14:6, Jesus declares Himself as the life, which is essential for Christians to understand, as it emphasizes the dependence of believers on Him for spiritual vitality. Outside of Christ, there is only spiritual death and darkness, as John 1:4 states, 'In Him was life.'
