What does the Bible say about being a son of God?

Answered in 7 sources

The Bible teaches that we are made sons of God through God's purpose, the purchase of Christ's redemptive blood, and faith in Him.

According to Galatians 4:1-7, believers are declared sons of God by God's sovereign purpose, which He established before the foundation of the world. Through the work of Jesus Christ, who was sent to redeem us from the law's curse, we receive the adoption of sons. This adoption is further affirmed by the Spirit of God sent into our hearts, enabling us to cry out, 'Abba, Father,' indicating our intimate relationship with God as His children. Thus, our sonship is a result of divine initiative and grace, not our merit.
