What does the Bible say about God's sovereignty and prayer?

The Bible highlights that prayer is not meant to change God's sovereign will but is a means through which God has ordained events to unfold. According to 1 John 5:14, if we ask anything according to God's will, He hears us. This teaches that prayer ought to be about aligning our desires with God's intentions rather than trying to sway Him to meet our desires. Moreover, God's sovereignty ensures that whatever happens, including the effectiveness of prayer, is framed within His eternal purpose and wisdom, as stated in Ephesians 1:11.
