Why is Christ's incarnation essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's incarnation was essential so that He could represent humanity and fully accomplish redemption.

The incarnation of Christ is a cornerstone of the Christian faith, as it establishes His role as both divine and human. As stated in Galatians 4:4, He was 'made of a woman, made under the law' to redeem those under the law. This dual nature allowed Him to fulfill the requirements of the law perfectly, which was necessary for the redemption of His people. Without being made flesh, He could not truly represent humanity nor bear the sins of those He came to save. Thus, in sovereign grace theology, the incarnation is seen as a vital aspect of God's redemptive plan, allowing Christ to be the mediator who bridges the gap between a holy God and sinful mankind.
